Advising of the reporting and passing requirements for all commercial vessels including commercial fishing vessels and recreational vessels above 100 GRT.

Harbourmasters’ permission is deemed to be granted if the actual and forecasted wind speed remains below 25 knots for the duration of the maintenance period.
* 30 knots is the upper limit for approval

Due to concerns for the Whangarei Harbour marine environment and, in particular, the affects of sewage discharges from ships, the Northland Regional Council seeks clarification of visiting ship's compliance with the Resource Management (Marine Pollution) Amendment Regulations 2022.

The shifting of ships at Northport berths may only be undertaken with permission from Northport who reserves the right to refuse any shift.
No agent can refuse to undertake a reasonable request to shift a vessel by Northport or another agent.

Northport Ltd is one of three commercial port operators located in Whangarei Harbour. The other operators are Channel Infrastructure at Marsden Point and Golden Bay Cement at Portland. The port of Whangarei is no longer a commercial port. The port authority for Whangarei Harbour is Northland Regional Council.
