Northport is New Zealand’s newest port, designed and built as a flexible, multi-purpose facility to cater for a wide range of cargoes and their associated vessel types. Logs, woodchip and processed timber for export currently comprise the bulk of cargo processed by the port, along with kiwifruit, dairy products and manufactured goods. Imports are an important part of ours business and include fertiliser, gypsum, coal and palm kernel.

We are well placed to handle any type of cargo and our mobile harbour crane gives us the ability to handle container traffic as well as a wide range of bulk cargoes. No matter what your business, if you’re interested in exploring your import, export or marine freighting options please do get in touch. Our expert staff would be delighted to discuss your requirements with you.

Expansion is very much part of our thinking here at Northport. We already have significant, consented development plans which include increasing our 570 meter linear berth by 270 metres and our hardstand area to 50 hectares. Longer term plans provide for a total footprint of 70 hectares and 1.4 kilometers of berthage.

And with 180 hectares of immediately-available ‘green field’ commercially-zoned land adjacent to the port boundary, we have a lot to offer importers and exporters looking for room to grow.

Information for New users:

The Port is not a public area and only those whose workplace it is, or who have been authorised to visit, may do so. It is essential that everyone who enters the port gates has completed the Northport Health and Safety Induction . These inductions need to be renewed every two years.
